The M&G (Meet and Greet): First Date Guide

The M&G — Meet and Greet — is the essential first step in any sugar arrangement. Here's what it involves, what to expect, and how to make it a success.

The M&G (Meet and Greet): What It Is and How to Nail It

The M&G (Meet and Greet) is the first in-person meeting between a potential Provider and Beneficiary. It's low-stakes, public, and typically brief — and it's the most important meeting you'll have.

What an M&G is An M&G is an informal first meeting to establish whether there's genuine chemistry and mutual interest. It's not a date, not an arrangement, and not a commitment. Think of it as a trial conversation to see if you want to proceed.

What an M&G is not It's not the time to agree financial terms in detail, not an occasion for physical contact beyond a handshake or brief greeting, and absolutely not the time to make any payments.

Where to hold it A busy coffee shop, hotel lobby bar, or relaxed restaurant. Somewhere public, neutral, and accessible to both parties. The venue signals your level of sophistication — a well-chosen spot makes a positive impression.

What to wear Smart-casual is almost always the right choice for a first M&G. You want to look like you've made an effort without appearing overdressed. Aim for polished, not performative.

How long should it last? 45 minutes to 90 minutes is ideal. Long enough to have a real conversation; short enough to leave them wanting more. Ending on a high note is always better than dragging things out.

What to talk about Interests, lifestyle, what you're looking for in general terms. Avoid diving deep into arrangement specifics at this stage. Focus on whether you actually like this person and whether you'd enjoy spending time together.

After the M&G If there's mutual interest, follow up within 24 hours. A simple "I enjoyed meeting you — I'd love to continue the conversation" is enough. Then move towards the arrangement discussion if both parties are interested.
