How Credits Work on SugarHut

Confused about credits? Here's a clear breakdown of what they are, what they unlock, and why SugarHut uses them instead of a subscription.

Understanding SugarHut's Credit System

If you're new to SugarHut, you've probably noticed that some features are unlocked with credits rather than a flat subscription fee. Here's exactly how the system works and why it exists.

What are credits?

Credits are SugarHut's in-app currency, purchased in packs from the Credits page. Unlike a subscription, you only pay for the specific features you actually use — and your balance never expires, even if you take a break from the platform.

Why credits instead of a subscription?

A credit-gated model keeps the platform respectful and spam-free. Requiring credits to start a new conversation means Providers put genuine thought into who they reach out to, rather than mass-messaging every profile they see. It's a simple friction that dramatically improves message quality for everyone.

What credits unlock

Starting a new conversation costs 10 credits — a one-time cost per member, after which all further messages in that conversation are free. Unlocking a member's private gallery costs 10 credits (once the owner has approved your request). Voice messages cost 5 credits per conversation, and photos or videos shared in chat cost 5 credits per item. Bumping a message to the top of someone's inbox costs 10 credits, and enabling read receipts for a conversation costs 10 credits, one-time. Starting a video call costs 50 credits for the first call with a member — every call after that is free. Making your Reputation Score visible costs 50 credits for Providers (it's free for Beneficiaries), and Top Fan bids range from 10–500 credits.

Who doesn't need credits?

Beneficiaries browse, receive messages, and use most features entirely free. Founding Members enjoy free lifetime access to all premium features regardless of membership type — no credits required.

Credits never expire

Once purchased, your credits stay in your account indefinitely — they're only lost if you delete your profile. They're non-refundable, so always double-check before confirming a spend, but you'll never lose value by not using them right away.

The bottom line

The credit system exists to keep conversations meaningful and the platform free of spam — not to nickel-and-dime genuine connections. Once a conversation is unlocked, it stays unlocked, forever.
