## 7 Golden Safety Rules Every Sugar Dater Should Follow

A first date in sugar dating is fundamentally an unknown — you're meeting someone in person for the first time. These seven rules ensure you do so as safely as possible.

## Rule 1: Always meet in a well-known, busy public place

Busy bars, hotel lobbies, and popular restaurants are ideal. Avoid anywhere private, remote, or off the beaten track. If your date resists meeting in a public place, that's a major red flag.

## Rule 2: Tell at least one person where you're going

Share the name of the venue, the time, and your date's username or phone number with someone you trust. Agree a check-in time. This takes 2 minutes and provides enormous peace of mind.

## Rule 3: Arrange your own transport — both ways

Take a taxi, rideshare, or public transport to and from the venue. Don't accept a lift from someone you've just met, no matter how the date went.

## Rule 4: Keep the first meeting short

An hour or two over drinks is perfect for a first M&G (Meet and Greet). You don't need to commit to dinner, an evening, or anything extended on the first meeting.

## Rule 5: Don't share your home address or workplace

Keep your address private until you fully trust the person. A PO box or general neighbourhood is enough at this stage.

## Rule 6: Trust your instincts — and act on them

If something feels off during the date, leave. You don't need a reason. You can always say you have somewhere to be. Your safety is more important than politeness.

## Rule 7: No financial transactions on the first meeting

The first M&G is about connection, not arrangement. Don't accept cash or make any financial agreements on a first date. That comes later, once trust is established.
