Meeting someone from a dating platform for the first time? Follow these five simple rules to stay safe and have a great experience.

## Staying Safe When Meeting Someone for the First Time

Meeting someone new for the first time is exciting — but it's important to put your safety first. Here are five rules we recommend to all SugarHut members.

## 1\. Always meet in a public place

Choose a busy café, restaurant, or bar for your first meeting. Never agree to meet at a private address straight away, no matter how well you think you know the person.

## 2\. Tell a friend

Let someone you trust know where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you expect to be back. Share a screenshot of the person's profile if possible.

## 3\. Arrange your own transport

Don't rely on your date to pick you up or drop you off for the first meeting. Having your own way home keeps you in control.

## 4\. Keep personal details private

Don't share your home address, workplace, or personal social media accounts until you fully trust the person. Use SugarHut's in-app messaging until you're comfortable.

## 5\. Trust your instincts

If something feels off — cancel. You never owe anyone a meeting. Your comfort and safety always come first.
